MEDIA ALERT Chris & Malaak Rock and Target to Celebrate Unveiling of The Salvation Army Bushwick Community Center's Newly Redesigned LibraryTarget Also to Announce Grant to The Salvation Army and its Forty Divisions to Support Educational Facility Renovations NationwideWhat:Chris and Malaak Rock, along with staff and students at The Salvation Army's Bushwick Community Center and Target, will celebrate the unveiling of the Center's newly transformed library. As part of Target's ongoing commitment to The Salvation Army, the Bushwick Community Center's library received a complete transformation this Fall, bringing new life into the space, which included new books, furniture, shelving, carpet, computers donated from Dell (PRODUCT) RED, and design elements by AARRIS Architects, LLP. More than 250 students, staff, community members and volunteers will attend the ribbon-cutting ceremony and celebrate the opening of the new library with readings, activities, food and games. The celebration also will serve as the official announcement of a Target grant to The Salvation Army and its forty divisions, including the Greater New York Division, for educational facility renovations across the country. Wednesday, November 12, 3:00 p.m. Summary:In December 2007, Target partnered with Chris and Malaak Rock to make the season brighter for 175 children in need served by The Salvation Army Bushwick Community Center. A private shopping event was held at the Brooklyn Target store and each child was presented with a $250 Target GiftCard to spend on toys and gifts for their families. In addition, Target awarded a $100,000 grant to the Bushwick Community Center, which used the funds to renovate its outdated library to provide a comfortable and inspiring place to learn, study and grow.
