Bake Sale Fundraiser - money raised is being used to send an orphan in South Africa to school Car Wash Fundraiser - money raised is being used to send an orphan in South Africa to school Focus: Photo Exhibit and Fundraiser - Ambassadors exhibited their photos along with hundreds of America's top photographers to benefit City Harvest Career Day at Time Inc. - Ambassadors visited the offices of "Time for Kids" magazine and had presentations from every magazine department from employees of "Time for Kids" and "Time" magazine Bushwick Salvation Army Library and Computer Lab Opening - Ambassadors joined Malaak and Chris Rock at the opening of the new library and computer lab, made possible through the generous support of Target and PRODUCT (RED) Dell computers Advocacy and Educational Mission to Washington, D.C. - Ambassadors advocated on Capitol Hill by meeting with Congresswoman Maxine Waters and aids to Senator Chuck Schumer; conducted college tours at Howard University and Georgetown Universities; and visited The Newseum, The Holocaust Museum and The Air and Space Museum Book Party for Marian Wright Edelman - Ambassadors hosted, along with Malaak Compton-Rock, a book party for Marian Wright Edelman, president of The Children's Defense Fund, for her latest book "The Sea is So Wide and My Boat is so Small: Charting a Course for the Next Generation" New Year's Volunteer Mission in Bushwick, Brooklyn - Ambassadors served for three days leading up to the New Year in their own neighborhood of Bushwick, Brooklyn by taking part in a neighborhood clean-up and volunteering at soup kitchens, homeless shelters, and daycares. Presentation to Bushwick Basketball Program - Ambassadors, who are also a part of the youth basketball program, gave a presentation to other members of the program Movie and a Dinner - Ambassadors went to see the Oscar winning movie "Slumdog Millionaire" and to dinner at Madiba, a South African restaurant in Clinton Hill, Brooklyn Service Mission to New Orleans, LA - Ambassadors rebuilt three houses in St. Bernard Parish with the non-profit organization St. Bernard Project.
