Good Morning:

My name is Regina Bagley-Gray, I am the Founder & C.E.O of H.O.W.E (Helping Our Women Emerge). H.O.W.E is start-up non-profit.

The mission of The H.O.W.E Project is to provide re-entry/starter/new beginning bags to former substance abusers and formerly incarcerated women.

We need some suggestions on how to raise funds (fundraisers) and where to get funding (grants).
Embarrassed
If anyone can offer any assistance, please email me.

Thanks,

Regina Bagley-Gray

I would start by introducing yourself to local councilmembers, all the centers within your local area.  Introduce your business at local vendor fairs etc.  The more relationships you build  the easier it will be to get participation for your event.  Networking will help to establish relationships with people who will potentially support your events.  Each councilmember is allotted a budget to be distributed to local not profit organizations like yours.  You missed the cutoff for this year but you can certainly ask them for an application for 2009 funding.   What about having a breakfast or luncheon (as a ticketed affair) or perhaps a workshop.  Hope that helps!

The name of our organization is called Clothed With Love, Inc.  We are a not-for-profit organization community based organization that provides services to seniors and children.  We provide assistance to needy families.  The highlight of the year is the senior luncheon we prepare for 200+ and our annual book bag back to school drive, where we gave out over 500 backpacks and school supplies to children in the community.  Throughout the year we give out new coats during the winter months, and provide new clothing as needed all year round. There is no cost for our services.  Our local elected officials have been a tremendous help.

I went to their office and introduced myself and organization.  It also helps to have brochures and any handouts about your organization available when you meet.  Have their assistant put time on his/her calendar to meet and discuss your organization at length.
